Every store has a Clearance Section. They must have it, just look, if you can't find it, ask !

Clearance Section is the best friend for people who has limited money.
Clearance Section is not just piled up with beaten down, crashed package, ugly stuff.
Clearance Section can be full of surprise - all the high-end, fancy, can't sell, can't afford before - now become a possible opportunity.
Clearance Section is a great place to stock up for daily supply from clothes, toilet paper, toothbrush, shampoo, lotion to dish detergent and bloody Dyson DC25 limited edition Blueprint, you name it, you can find it, up to 90% MSRP. Don't believe it, one word for you - patience !

That's right, patience, you wait for it.

Why ? you ask ? Here's why,

Out of season to designers and those so-called "fashioner", just 6 weeks apart to reality that weather really change, and there are 4 seasons every year, spring may be late, but it will get here, not unless earth is totally out of the rotation which is million years away from today. You want to catch up the fashion ? Then you pay for it to get it "earlier" then the rest of folks, sucker.

If you are full grown, means you won't grow any 3 inches taller or 4 size bigger in the next 12 months, stuck up your everyday underwear when they got put your size on clearance. When it's on sale, you get to pay less for more.

For every retail store chain, major or minor, every "sales campaign" basically runs from 6-8 weeks average depend on the "focus". Ever see those "bonus package" shampoo or body lotion out there ? their manufacture production line runs for at least a month before they switch back to their "original package". After those bonus packages hit the retail store, their shelf life is about 4-6 weeks before they are "expected" to be gone, for those "remaining few or bunch" that overstay their shelf life, stores like Target, will put them out for "clearance", starts with 15%, then 30%, then 50%, then 75%, then 90%. You ever hear the expiration date of toilet paper ? Stock it up, clip the damn coupons on Sunday newspapers or just sign up from the manufacture mailing list, they will send you free coupons.

Bonus package + clearance discount + coupons, this is simple math, you count your saving and you don't need Sam's nor Costco.

The diapers my children gone through, all from clearance section, cheaper than Sam's store brand and I get to collect points for free Starbucks gift cards.

My best saving performance is to score energy light bulb that was priced for $7.49, I paid  14 cents. It got marked down because of package change, stupid sales campaign, they did that every year or so, retail store has to clear up the old package to make space for the new package goods, the old package bulb got marked down all the way to $1.69, I found the $1.50 off print-able coupon from the store website, print it out, bring my own shopping bag for another 5 cents discount, 14 cents is my total per piece. Is there an expiration date for energy saving light bulb ? No, that's why I got 6 of them.

Everyone loves "holidays", the major holiday like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine, Easter, Mother's day, 4th of July.... Notice there are very much every 2-3 months apart ? Ever see that cute little Easter bunny print paper towels ? It will be on the clearance section the Monday after Easter Sunday, you be at store when it open, you will get it, you get there late, 30 minutes late, sorry, see you next year. Why I know it ? While I don't necessary try to score the 50% off Easter Bunny print paper towels, I will be there for the Easter Egg package stuff for next year.

We keep school supply list from last year and stock up after "back to school drive" ends, children are set for all the way to 6 grades, both, with very minimum surprise, everything is 75-90% off. 1 cent for folder, 43 cents for staples with pins, 25 cents for a dozen pencils, we can go hungry, they can continue to have school supply for education.

My mother is a great cook, she bakes bread for dad. She has been wanting to have a KitchenAid Stand Mixer, it's expensive in Taiwan, I got a brand new one -  Breast Cancer Research Limited Edition, 50% off, last one off the shelf, beat another lady one step, I put it to my shopping cart first. That year, I took it home, 26 hours of travel time. She is happy to have the stand mixer, I am happy I can afford something nice to please my mother.

And yes, I got a Dyson DC 25 for 75% off.
When something is too expensive and it is really good, hunter will watch it like a hawk, the day it get further mark down from 50% off to 75% off, you one step late, you might just not get it. Speaking of that, I almost miss that last Dyson and that perhaps is so far my biggest and latest hunt.

Clearance section certainly is tempting, but you have to resist the temptation.  Don't touch everything that you don't need. For those who have no children, don't even think about buying clothes for your nephew or niece, because you have no clue what size they actually wear and by the time you hand the clothes to them, they may not be able to wear it. You might as well to save that money for gift card, will serve better needs for food. My brother tried to do that, I smack him right back.

What else can beat Clearance Section ? Freebie !

You know Victoria's Secrets very much give me free clothes every 2-3 months and I honestly have too many of brand new underwear stock up there all for free with labels on. I haven't come up a good solution for them. But every time they send me a free coupon, I will go and pick it up for free, same as free lotion from Bath and Body Works.

Freebie is always good, you can request free sample for lots of stuff, and you get coupons, good coupons. I love those free coffee samples, toothpaste, travel size soap, lotion, lipstick, lip-balm, I think the best sample I ever got was a HP PC, many years ago, it was a long shot, I applied and got one of it, one year later, I sold it for 500 bucks. BTW, I don't work for HP.

Koda, my Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and I do Mighty Dog Walk every year for the past 4 years, to raise funds for service dogs. It's for good cause and I am more than happy to contribute in any way I can, but the event, also has plenty of "sponsors" from various vendors - dog food, vet, pet hotel, etc.

The first time we went, we were late, children were young, cranky crying babies plus sleepy father, we didn't get much goodies, i.e "samples". I also did not see many sponsor but local stores.

The second year, only the two of us went because we are the early birds, damn, was I naive, every dog owner was carrying tons of free dog food samples and bowls off the event, I so wished I had a big back pack, then I could carry a bit more.

Last year, we did good, the two of us, and I did have a big empty backpack ready, got 11 bottles water, about 3 dozens of dog food sample bags ( one bag good for one meal ), 4 big sample bags of dog treats, 6 $5 off coupons from Petco for dog food, 5 tennis balls, which Koda doesn't play it at all, should quit taking it though...3 free shopping bags from Animal Emergency Hospital and 8 bowls from Purina, bonus - human treats from Cliff Bars, a dozen of various flavors, and pens, and stick notes from CPA booth and Vets.  Near 5 miles walk with about 10 pounds of goods, I got my exercise quota met.

This year, children wanted to tag along, so the whole family will go. Everyone got an empty backpack ready. So we have 4 big backpacks this year for the goodies, and it's been told, this year, many more sponsors ! 20 minutes before the walk start time, we already late ! I can't believe people already taking the goodies back to their car and back for the second run ! FINE ! We have 4 back packs and 4 hands ( children's hands don't count ) ! They do have good sponsors this year, all the expensive brands show up, smaller sample packages though. Perhaps the Rachel Ray's dog food is bigger size, we got about 30 packs, another 2 dozens of organic dog foods, and another dozen of Whole Food's brand dog food. Two dozen of peanut butter cookie ( dog cookie ) treats, 5 pill cases from the Vet hospitals, 7 bouncing balls ( Koda doesn't play it either, Children play.... ), 4 bowls, 6 shopping bags from Animal Emergency Hospital ( bigger and than last year ), a dozen banana ( for dog and human ), 10 bottles water, and drum rolls - 2 dozens of Mighty Dog can food and 2 dozens of Alpo can dog food. Oh yeah, heavy ! Tristan and daddy made a short cut and dropped some goodies back to the car while Anna and I continued the walk. Everyone slept very nice that day, good exercise, and Koda is set for the next 2 months at the very least, not to mention the dozen Cesar dog food I just got from Clearance Section with those 6 Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupon.

Life is tough.
When you don't have much, you can get depressed.
But you can find a way, a smart way, to live better, with the little you have, and you can be happier.
I certainly hope I can make more money to have a better life and I am working on that everyday.
Yet, there is nothing wrong to be best friend of Clearance Section and Freebies.

Why pay full price when you can get it for less or free ?

I will continue to be best friend of Clearance Section and Freebies, so as my children.
